M99 Google 4S+ Phone - Firmware

Here a stock firmware for the M99 4S+ Phone:

EDIT 03.14.2012: This one should work: CLICK

Copy the whateveritiscalled.zip to the ROOT directory of your sd-card. Do NOT unzip it, do NOT put it into any folders, just copy it to your sd-card.

Phone is off, press and hold POWER and VOL (+) to boot into the Recovery Mode.

Do a wipe data/factory reset.
Select "apply update from sdcard".
Reboot.

Good luck, have fun and please don't brick your phone!

YOU ARE DOING THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK!

  1. Hi,Drik,i have tested it ,Directly Copy the” mt6513-e903x-g-d-v12.01.05-update.zip” to

the ROOT directory of the sd-card,do not need "rename" as normal.

  2. Sorry I might seem a bit stupid but what is the use of the use of the modification presented above ??... I've ordered an M99 Google 4s but have not received it yet... I which case would I need to do this ??...

    1. You probably might not have to flash this firmware at all :-) But JUST IN CASE your phone ever "crashes", won't boot anymore or is having whatever problem, by flashing a firmware it's most likely that it can be restored.

  3. So you mean it's some type of prevention in case it crashes ?...

  4. Ok thanks for the information... Let me receive it first & if I have any further questions I'll keep in touch... Just one last question nothing much to do with this topic; How's the battery life with both Sim cards switched on ??...

    1. I don't even have two sim cards but I've read that some people wrote something like 2-2,5 days. Of course it really depends on what you do with the phone.

    2. Hi ColonelZap.
I am owner of M99 unrooted.
I have used the update M99 firmware and updated sucessfully
but need Market app to install?
Must I root the phone to make the Market work?
Is there any other solution cos every version try to install
just when trying to download Market force close quit?
Why cant they just have Market preinstalled in firmware?

Also tried to install ADB drivers but how do I install them?
There is no driver install.exe in M99fix folder?
How do I do this adressing to 6573 drivers through windows?
Reply please to frustrated M99 owner?

    3. Hi :-) When you have USB-Debugging enabled on the phone and when you connect it to your pc, check your pc's device manager. Somewhere there your phone should be listed, probably with a missing driver. From there you need to update the driver until it is recognized as an ADB-device.

Sorry I can't be any more precise, I have Vista 32bit running, I can't speak for any other windows versions and how it's done.

  5. Hi, can you tell me where I can download the firmware.zip file from ? I've just got my m99 & have several problems with it.
    - No way of downloading anything from the Android Market.
    - How to enable the keyboard rotation when writing SMSs because with big fingers typing in the vertical position is really not practical.
    - How can I enable the delivery report for SMSs on this Phone ?
    Thanks.

    1. Hi :-)
You are asking where you can download the firmware? Well, right here in this post ;-)

You will also find instructions on how to get the Android Market on the phone on my blog.

About the SMS: I suggest you install "Go SMS" from the market, that sms client should be able to support screen rotation and it also has a bunch of settings, I'm confident it also supports delivery reports.

      Good luck :-)

    2. I got to the point where I need to intstall the MT6573ADBdrivers. I have the folder I can open it but how to install it ?

      Delete
    3. It depends on the Windows version you are running. I really can't explain how to install a driver on all Windows version, USUALLY you need to connect the Phone to you pc and then you'll find a device with a missing driver in the Windows device manager. From there you need to update the driver, pointing Windows to the folder where the drivers are located.

  7. Ok... I've managed to install the drivers... Now I've opened the Super One Click file and clicked on Root and three more files appear ? What is there to do ? Nothing seems to be happening.

    1. Sorry, I can't follow you, three more files appear? I SHOULD do all by itself once the ühone is recognized as an adb device and you click on "root" in Super One Click.

If it's not working, all I can suggest is to try in on a different pc with a different Windows version. All this worked fine for me on Vista 32Bit.

  8. The Super One Click appears as a file & not a program orapplication. I see so many downloads for Super One Click 2.2 but I'm not sure if it's secure to download one from there. Is there any site you can recommend for the download safely ?
I the mean time I'm going to try to do it on an old computer with Windows XP...

    1. I'm a little confused, Super One Click is included in my Market Fix download package, why would you want to download it from somewhere else? Or is somehow a virus scanner filtering my version of Super One Click? It's very common that some virus scanners show a flase alarm on the V2.2 Version of SOC, that's NOT a virus.

    1. Hi there ColonelZap!
I first want to thank you for great site with great
solutions and help with this firmware update of M99.

      Question:
The preinstalled screenlock behaves very weird sometimes
during arrivings calls and prevent the "slider"to accept
      the calls?
I try to "slide" the screenlock to answer the call
but it wont accept the"sliding"and the "slider" goes back
to it´s startposition again, but after about 10 seconds
it FINALLY accept my sliding of screenlock?

I have tried to change screenlock to "LockBot"and it´s
great screenlock app, but the preinstalled screenlock
appears sometimes STILL when call arrives, and stops me
from answering calls with this "sliding" prevent problem?

Do you have this problem with M99?
      Please reply?

    1. Hi and thanks for the kind words :-)

Well, I installed an additional launcher (Launcher Pro, for example), when you press down the home button, it functions as a home button and there you can select which launcher will be launched. Hope that makes sense and that's what you wanted to know?

  16. Hi :-)

I don't have the phone anymore but it looks like the update I have here is from January 5th, 2012.

I really don't know if it's worth updating? As long as everything is working on your phone, I wouldn't do an update, it's not like it'll make phone any better.

  23. I am not colonel Zap and i certainly do not have his skills'but i do have unfortunately one M99+ google mobile, did flashed several times with the Upgrade of Colonel Zao,did not solve any problem, this phone is a bad phone with serious dial up malfunctions and no upgrade will ever solve these problems..nevertheless as for your bizarre behaviour of your Device(double lock) i dare to ask you "did you follow ALL the steps of the upgrade procedure"?!
You MUST erase everything before you start to upgrade the new "update" file'maybe you forgot to do this clean up(erase)of your old memory data...then perhaps you have now a mix up of old and new Firmware...is only a guess...good luck...

  24. Al,

I went ahead and decided to redo the flash and I erased everything and only had the zipped rom in the root directory. I reflashed and rebooted but my touch screen still responds upside down. I'm wondering if someone has an older rom that I can flash my phone back too. If so my email is ejstubby@gmail.com

    ReplyDelete
  25. Al,

Thanks for the email. I tried your procedure for clearing the cache and flashing the memory but it did not work. What I am doing now is that I have a 2nd M99 phone that is working just fine. I rooted the phone and I am copying the files from that phone and I am going to overwrite the files on the messed up phone. Just a shot in the dark as I've flashed the rom like 10 times now and I have the same problem with the upside down touchscreen response. I'm thinking it's a video or touchscreen driver issue so hopefully my fix works. I'll post info after I do the data swap.
