Hi Colonel.
ReplyDeleteDid you notice the new ONDA website in ENGLISH?
http://www.onda-tablet.com/buy-android-onda.html
BTW, They announced a new (99$) vi50 tablet with A13 multi-core CPU...
Waiting to see it coming ;)
I didn't know that, thanks for the info :-)
DeleteI wanted to check out your YT-channel but it's not available :-(
Well, I do not maintain it, so I disabled it.
DeleteWhat do you think of this vi50 tablet?
It's base features are the same as vi40, besides the size (of course) 7", lack of an HDMI port and a thin figure (3.9mm) - For 99$...
Chinese by saying "many-core" usually mean that the SOC has separate cores for video processing and stuff like that. It's very unlikely that A13 will be dual core. AFAIK, it still uses Cortex A8 technology and they don't make dual core Cortex A8 CPUs.
DeleteI have no idea how good or bad this Vi50 might be but 3.9mm thickness I don't believe for second. If something like that were possible, Apple would have done it ;-)
DeleteThank you for the remark.
DeleteI was not aware of it...
Of course this was just a GUESS but that's what they said about the Cube U9GT2 as well. They wrote it was supposed to be 5.5mm in thickness, what they really meant was "the thinnest part (the edges) are 5.5mm" ;-) The overall thickness was definitely more. China logic? ;-)
DeleteDear ColonelZap,
ReplyDeletedo you have idea about this tab
http://www.fastcardtech.com/goods-7125-Gpad+G10+Phoenix+Android+40+Tablet+PC+97+Inch+IPS+3G+GPS+Bluetooth+Cortex+A9+Dual+Core+CPU+Dual+Camera.html
Arifullah
You asked me before and I told you before, I think it looks great but since I've never seen it, this is just a guess.
DeleteHi Col.Zap
ReplyDeleteI noticed in this video the web pages load slowly on Ployer as compared to Onda. Is it due to processor speeds in those tablets?
May I suggest you do a performance test of Ployer Momo11, Gemei G9 and Cube U9GT2 tablets side by side.
Thanks,
A
Hellooo?
DeleteHello Colonel!
ReplyDeleteI flashed the new v1.0 firmware ;)
How can I fix the Market issue (lack of Apps)?
Does your old thread fixes it?
http://colonelzap.blogspot.com/2012/01/onda-vi40-elite-android-market-fix.html
If yes, are there any side-effects? ;)
A small tip: I used my PC to enter play.google.com, into a specific application (that is missing in the VI Play Market) and saw that: “This item is not compatible with your device.”
Maybe there is a way to make it recognize my vi40 as a tablet, thus
solving the problem...
Regards
Colonel?
DeleteOh, I'm sorry for not answering, yet. I don't think the market fix will do any good on the 1.0 firmware. I have no idea what to do to recover the missing apps :-(
DeleteA Market fix for ONDA tablets with ICS 4.0.3 (v0.8 & maybe v1.0) - I didn't check it yet!
Deletehttp://www.slatedroid.com/topic/30620-fixed-google-play-issues-missing-apps/
I tried that with the 1.0, it didn't work for me, as far as I can tell.
DeleteThank you for trying, anyway ;)
DeleteIn (at least) one of your reviews you demonstrated the performance of a spaceship race - What's the name of this game?
Regards.
Hi :-)
DeleteI think you mean this one?
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.osaris.turboflydemo
Thank's ;)
DeleteHi ColonelZap we need to test more about 2 tablet PLoyer and Onda with lastest firmware version. Please show us more test on new video : such as play 3D game, benchmark with quadrant and antutu, test speed of browser and more :)
ReplyDeleteHi :-) I did test a bunch of stuff, they perform more or less identical, there is nothing much to show in a video.
DeleteHi ColonelZap,
ReplyDeleteI received yesterday my Vi40, and been trying it now, i want to ask if some thing i noticed are normal on this tablet or not: the home button is a lot softer than the other two, and it's lower than the other two, like it as been used... when holding the tablet with the camera on the left hand side, the camera plastic schreaks a bit and when i took the plastic of the display i noticed that when the tablet is with the camera on the left hand, and the buttons on the right hands, on the top of the display it has a small gap from some kind of one of the display's layers?? is this some kind of deffect?
Other issue i have is that it catches the wifi signal very badly, it has the ICS 4.0.3.. and market is working.
Apart all this, it's a fantastic tablet.
Resuming:
- Home button lower and softer than the other two?
- Plastic of the camera schreaks a bit when holding on the camera's side?
- Display's layers have defects?
- Bad wifi signal, is there any way to improve wifi strenght?
thanks!!
Hi :-)
ReplyDeleteThe only thing I can confirm is a little squeaking noise. All the buttons and the screen look fine on my tablet and the WIFI is as strong as it is on any other tablet I had so far. Of course my laptop has a better wifi reception but I guess that's "normal".
Hi again ColonelZap,
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, thanks for the quick reply!
Another thing i don't know is how can i differenciate the V1, V2 and V3 versions? How do i know which one do i have?
thanks!
It should be in the serial number on the back.
Deletehi colonel.thanks for great compression.can you please tell me how is the battery life on standby for mobo11 bird edition?onda vi40 has 25 days standby.at least they advertise like that.is that correct? If you choose which tablet would you choose for me?please advise me!regards
ReplyDeleteHi Colonel, I cannot decide which of these 2 tablets to purchase. My impression from your video was that the Onda appeared slightly faster and smoother. Which 1 would you recommend
ReplyDeleteMany thanks David (UK)
I have ordered an Onda Vi40, which is included with a Chinese manual. I Googled for an English manual but, so far, I couldn't find. I am familiar with Android (cell phone), perhaps a manual for the Onda Vi40 isn't necessary?
ReplyDeleteHi Colonel ;)
ReplyDeleteA new v1.1 firmware upgarde was launched to ONDA vi40.
It's only for the V3 version of vi40, so stay tuned for the (hopefully) upcoming upgrade for the V1 version of vi40.
Regards.
Thank you so much for the info :-) Keeping my fingers crossed a V1 version will follow :-)
DeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteI m having great problems transferring APK files to the Onda Vi40... Can anyon epleae help? I've been searching for a guide without luck. I would be thankfull for your help.
Hi :-) Maybe this will help?
ReplyDeletehttp://colonelzap.blogspot.de/2012/02/onda-vi40-elite-how-to-install-android.html
Hello Colonel.
ReplyDeleteYour blog help me a lot when I was looking for the best way to flash my VI40 tablet. Now I'm a bit worried because my tablet is lock on the screen "There have been too many unsuccessful attempts to pattern creation." Where says: "To unlock the phone, sign into your Google Account."
As the wifi is not activated, although I input the account and password there is no way to unlock the tablet... Neither I don't know how to activate the wifi from the unlock screen...
I've tried to connected it to flash it using LiveSuit, but the PC, all the times I've tried to connect it via USB, windows detects it as new hardware and try to install the necessary software (this makes me think that when the tablet is blocked the driver normally used is not useful).
As much as I try to flash it using the "LiveSuit" I can not...
When connected to USB simultaneously pressing the "middle button" and the "power button" does not run the flashing of the image that I have chosen, because Windows tries to install the necessary drivers for the new hardware.
I have also tried to press with a wire the "reset" button but it takes me to the same screen.
Do you know how to make the tablet back to the starting point of factory? Or which driver to use to recognize that the windows in the lock status?
Thanks in advance. And greetings.
Hello.
DeleteEverything is solved now...
I've installed "III. Android Debugging Mode or ADB (Android Debugging Bridge) mode" from "http://www.topnotchtablets.com/support".It allowed me to access to my ONDA VI40 and flash it using LiveSuit. Thanks to every one...
I'm not able to install on my instagram Onda VI40. Have to install? And how do I move programs to SD card
