    1. Tough to say? I'm not a big fan of those HUGE screen phones with a 480x800 pixel resolution, for MY taste it just doesn't look that good :-(

  3. Hello. What is the difference between mtk6575 and mtk6577. Does it worth to buy a cell phone with mtk6577 processor, does it really much faster?

    1. RIGHT NOW it doesn't feel much faster?!? I have the feeling it's a firmware thing, maybe the Android version doesn't (fully?) support the dual cores?

  4. acording to this http://www.gizmochina.com/2012/07/20/understanding-mediatek-mtk-mt6577-chipset/ the mt6575 was at fist a single core cpu. then it became a dual core, now to distinguish the single core from the dual core they are renaming the mt6575 to mt6577. thats what I understand from it. thats why there is no difference in speed.

  5. I've got a question - do you order these phones by mail to Germany? Do you pay any import fees, what's the situation? I'd like to order one to Croatia, but we have very strict Customs, they charge like 30% in import fees and taxes...

  8. Hi - I had the MTK 6575 version of this one (Star Note I). And the camera quality was very poor. Although it says 8 mp but the color saturation and sharpness was pathetic.

Other phone features was very good.

Is the MTK6577 Star Note II has good camera. May be the older model was faulty.

Can you please share some light on this ?

    Many Thanks

    1. It's a regular LCD, about the colors, I can't tell you, I don't have the phone anymore. But for the future, do you know a good app that can provide that information?

    2. Well, I´d like to know that as well.

  11. Hi, have you got a chance to test the GPS performance of these MT6577 based phones?

I've got a Zopo ZP100 today and the GPS is unusable for tracking workouts etc, so I wonder if you have got any MTK-based phone with a usable GPS yet or maybe it's a Zopo-specific problem (a lot of people seem to have GPS issues with at least the ZP100).

    Thanks,
    // Jan

  14. I bought this phone and am really pleased with the overall product. Some glitches with software at times and not the best camera for being stated as an 8mp. In reality its a 5mp INTERPOLATED TO 8mp...

There is also a small bug, it won't let you to add multiple contacts for messaging by selecting from the list and some times upon pressing the middle button after sending a message the screen goes to simply background. One presses the on/off button to switch screen off and on, and it's like nothing happened :).

One question, is there a way to update to jelly bean instead of ice cream sandwich 4.0.9. What are the basics steps to follow?

    1. Hi :-)

I don't think there is a Jelly Bean firmware available for this phone. As for your sms problem, have you tried to use an alternative sms client? Go SMS usually works great, give it a try :-)

  15. Hi! Thats very interesting. Have you test a chinese phone very similar - STAR N800, 4.3 inch (impressions)? I agree that 480x800 aint so pretty for a 5.1.
