Unpack it.
Start the flashing tool.
Click on "Scatter-loading" to
load the MT6577_Android_scatter_emmc.txt file, the flashing tool should looks exactly
like this:
Click on "Download", you'll get a
warning message:
Continue anyway.
Your phone is OFF.
Remove the battery.
Connect the phone via USB-datacable to your
pc.
Insert the battery, it SHOULD trigger the
flashing process. If this is the first time you are doing it, you should be
asked to install a driver. The missing driver is located in the
SP_Flash_Tool_v3.1222.00 / new usb driver
folder. After the driver is installed, you may have to start the flashing
process again.

Your phone should now be rooted, if you
find a "Superuser" App on your phone, everything went well.

Different CPU, different rooting method, never mind, the IMEI part works the same :-)
Thank you Rumpelstilzchen for that!

Your work is really very much appreciated by many. Thanks for your generous help. I will donate as soon as the new month rolls around.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much :-) Did you try this? Did it work for you? A LOT of times people are having the most difficult time to get the driver installed :-(
DeleteTks for the excellent work and contributions on XDA site as well.
DeleteOne idea I have been interested in assembling or inspiring someone with time on their hands to do is to put together a boot disk image with drivers to support most common PC/laptop hardware. The objective would be to circumvent the driver conflicts many of us have encountered on Windows 7 or XP. The 'clean' boot of Windows or XP from disk with instructions to remove all but necessary peripherals beforehand, should lead to far fewer conflicts.
My own experience in routing and burning ROMs on Haipai i9220 and previous Android devices has been that conflicts with prior drivers made use of USDdeview to remove them necessary. Then conflicts cropped up because, for some inexplicable reason, having a Wi-Fi modem attached to USB caused both the WiFi and the Android device to stop working.
There are just too many potential conflicting PC/laptop and preexisting driver installations out there to custom debug every one of them. A boot disk approach could lead to simpler instructions that would work in most cases:
1) Download the boot image. (the same standard image for all devices)
2) Use this (linked) image burning software and follow these steps (linked) to unpack the image to a folder.
3) Download this zip and use 7zip or other to unpack it to the same folder
4) Use the image burning software to burn a disk using the combined folder contents.
5) Boot from the disk with no USB devices attached to the PC or laptop other than the USB to the Android mobile phone or pad. The user would be instructed that the drivers should load, to check that in device manager, etc.
The boot OS could be set up to install the common Android device drivers on boot up and also to include a menu prompt and online step instructions.. or that would be the most desired objective. Otherwise, providing a boot disk that can be customized with ROM or added drivers would put most PCs/laptops on a common clean starting page. The custom ROM could be more simply placed on the disk drive such as a folder named Star Note II N9770 ROM v1.1 created by extracting the appropriate file.
BOOT CDs images are available. One of the utility disks, such as Hiren's might work.
Not yet U am still thinking of getting either this one or the Haipai. I just let go of my i9300 which would not recognize sd cards and took over 15 mins to find your location for turn by turn navigation. On your latest post I am actually seeking your opinion on which to get the star II or haipai. Your input is highly valued.
ReplyDeleteCheck out these guys. I don't think they are legitimate, Let me know what you think.

ColonelZap, thanks for all your helpful posts.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, sorry this has nothing to do with Star phone, but I bought a HDC G23i with MT6575, 4.7" screen brand new from FastCardTech. And it cannot "see" the USA ATT network. No voice, no data. It says no network available. I have tried both 2G and 2G/3G SIM slots. I have tried every possible setting about mobile network. What could I be doing wrong?
FastCardTech says they will send me a ROM, if they can find one, but I thought I would get your ideas.
ROM as shown on Fastcardtech website pictures for the HDC G23i:
alps/mobiletek75_cu_ics/mobiletek75_cu_ics:4.0.4/IMM76D/1338030434:user/test-keys
ROM shipped with my phone:
HTC/android_4x_ics/android_4x_ics:4.0.4/IMM76D/1340354979:user/test-keys
Could this be the problem? Oh, Ich spreche Deutsch aber zehr schlect.
Thanks a lot. It's a great help.
ReplyDeleteI hope you'll also post how to
upgrade HDC i9300 to ICS 4.0.3.
Danke!
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeletePlease forgive my ignorance.
Why would you need to root these chinaphones? Will that give you complete access to all Android features?
Next thing, I'm planning to buy a Galaxy Note copy can you recommend on the list below which is the closest to the original including speed and over all quality?
Star Note Plus GT-i9220 MTK6577
Star N9770 5.0 Inch Capacitive
Star Note II GT-i9220 5 Inch
HDC Galaxy Note i9220 MTK6577
Haipai X710D Evo 4G LTE MTK6577
Or let me know if there's much better unit than these.
Neo
Hi ColonelZap,
DeleteI hope you can give a response on my query above. :)
Neo
Sorry, I can't, I'm not familiar with all of them. BASICALLY all the MT6577 are the same and so are the MT6575 phones.
DeleteThey are all SO much alike, I always have the feeling it's the exact same hardware they they put into different housings.
Hi ColonelZap,
DeleteThanks for the info, I actually thought of that... just different housing and branding for the MT6577.
Do you think it's still worth it than investing on a the actual samsung note? I'm almost ordering one soon at fastcardtech.com, or you have better suggestion?
Thanks again!
I just read about a new phone from Zopo called the ZP900 Leader, it MIGHT be good? At least it has a more dencent screen resolution than all the other +5" phones.
DeleteThanks for the recommendation, I think that's great though why can't the resolution be better than 960*540 pixel display? The only downside is Star Note Plus GT-i9220 has even better processor at 2GB. Anyhow I'll give it a try when it becomes available.
DeleteHello.I have a tinji i9220 and i flash it and doesnt start, doesnt charge and its not recognized by the pc.Any advice¿??thx
DeleteHi, greet me happened too, how did you solve the problem please? Respond to the email george.bus@seznam.cz thank you.. :(
Deletehi sir i just bought star N9770 , i have a problem with the lcd or the screen its like its flickering, can you pls. suggest how to fix i cant normally use it. its there something in the setting, or firmware issue? pls. help, thanks sir
ReplyDeletei also got the flickering issue after just a few minutes of use, sucks really
DeleteHi :-)
ReplyDeleteI am sorry, I have no idea? Flickering? That sounds to me it could be a hardware problem?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iMnaUsH_Wfg
Deletehi sir, i made a video for the screen problem for u to see, can u check it.. above are the link of the video.thanks, i hope its not hardware maybe display driver or something. thanks ill wait for your feedback
Hi, I can can see what you mean but I really don't know if it's a firmware or hardware problem. I've never seen anything like that caused by a firmware problem :-(
DeleteI just got my phone and it was fine until I flashed it using the above steps. Then it started flickering like that. :((( It seems too me like there's a wrong (non-native) resolution or refresh rate set somewhere. I'm not too familiar on how to re-set it to original. Any suggestions???
Deletethank you so much for your fast reply, i also cant verify if its hardware or firmware problem. because just yesterday i flash it with i9220 note firmware i found in some forum which is also having that kind of problem. it lessen the screen flickering but not totally gone. i hope there's someone who can help me, how to fix this, i save money for this device, so heart breaking..
ReplyDeleteHello ,
ReplyDeleteShould this work on a Star i9300 mt 6575 ??
Want to root my phone .
Thx
No, it will not work. But please check if you have the same phone like this one:
Deletehttp://colonelzap.blogspot.de/2012/08/hdc-galaxy-s3-i9300-rooting-and-play.html
it looks exactly like that .
Deletehttp://www.cect-shop.com/de/star-i9300.html
i got it from there .
Looks like it could be the same, check out my video I made about the phone and then you decide if it is :-)
Deletethanks , i rooted it with yout methode :)
DeleteHello! this process will work with an Haipai X710D?
ReplyDeleteThanks you
Check this out:
Deletehttp://chinamobiles.org/downloads/zap/haipai-x710d_root.zip
I never tested it, so no guarantee. It is flashed from the recovery mode (I'm guessig Vol+ and Power). Do not unzip it, copy it on your sd-card the from the recovery mode do a "update from zip" (or something like that).
I tried to install this zip from the recovery but when starts the install process appeares the message: E signature verification failed. Also, as curiosity, the phone don't find the sdcard, and I must install the zip from the memory of the phone (named sdcard) the external is named sdcard2.
DeleteI must do anything before the installation? I only want to root the phone, but I can't find anything on the web!
Thanks you very much for your desinterested help.
We are still talking about the Haipai x710d phone, right?
DeleteTry to use the method above but use this bootimage instead:
http://chinamobiles.org/downloads/zap/x710dboot.img
rename it to boot.img
Good luck :-)
Yes, I'm attempting root the x710d...
DeleteThis process don't work, the recovery don't show the file boot.img :-( only the zip files.
I tried to rename the file haipai-x710d_root.zip to update.zip, but neither works.
The bootimage I just gave you is not flashed through the recovery mode, see my intruction on top, it is flashed with a flash tool.
DeleteHi ColonelZap, I doing the whole process as you indicate above, renaming the boot.img and leaving it in the folder n9770root. Everything went exactly as you indicate in the tutorial, I have even installed the drivers and gave the window whith OK in the flashing program, but when I start the phone I check with the Root Check Basic and tells me that the device is not Root, also do not see the icon Superuser.
DeleteSorry to bother again, but I see no way to do it.
Hi :-)
DeleteSo, the whole flashing procedure worked? I am not on my pc right now, I'll check later if I can find another bootimage you can try to flash but I think the one I gave you is the only one I have. If I find something, I'll let you know. In the meantime, check out the xda developers forum, I think they have something there.
Check this out:
Deletehttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=29182600&postcount=1450
Finally I solved the problem of the root installing a boot.img from xda.
DeleteThanks you for everything!
Congratulations!!! And I'm glad I could help at least a little :-)

ReplyDeletehi colonel..can this tutorial works on lenovo A789..it has same MTK6577 chip...
ReplyDeleteand is this tutorial just to root the phone without changing stock rom...
thanks..
No, it can NOT work for a different phone, there is a bootimage flashed on the phone that is JUST for this model.
Deletethanks...
Deletebtw, do you have kit to root lenovo A789 without changing the stock rom?
Sorry, I don't :-( Never had that phone, I don't know anything about it :-(
DeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteJust want to say thank you col zap. This and i9300 rooting, both worked perfectly for me (I have both of these phones). You are the man! Keep up the good work :)
Thank you so much for the feedback, I really appreciate it! Glad I could help a little :-)
DeleteCan we use this method for any mt6577 phoneand do we need to root phone to change imeis with german forum method
ReplyDeletei realise that, we need to root phone to change imei, i root v1277 via unlock root :) but the wierd thing is, imeis come back after factory reset
DeleteHello, I'm inexperienced in the subject and my English is weak, so I'll try to be direct about it.
ReplyDeleteI could summarize how do I put the firmware in July? And how does it differ to the firmware that comes on the device? I have windows 7 on my computer.
Hi zap,
ReplyDeleteCamera on n9770 is not working after rooting :( any suggestions. Can i somehow revrse this rooting process?
Thanks
Hi! I had the same problem. Just flash back your original boot.image and the camera is working again! You keep the root rights!
Deletehi,
Deletethanks for your reply. i did flash back the original boot.image but the camera still isn't working :(. is there another way of flashing the original boot.image?
I have the same problem, the camera does not work after doing root. any suggestions?
Deletehad the same probleme, used the original bootimg again and it's working again ;)
DeleteHi Guyz!
ReplyDeleteHas anyone bought one of this:
http://www.chinaecarts.com/samsung-galaxy-s3-12ghz-dual-core-48inch-mtk6577-android-41-16gb-phone-p-3095.html
Hi Zap,
Do you think that the specs they describe are true (especially the screen resolution?
Thanks
Can't tell you if the specs are right but I've never seen a phone with these specs.
DeletePlease stay away from this phone at all cost. IT IS A SCAM ! don't buy anything from chinaecarts period !
ReplyDeleteI bought this phone from them and it is the exact same phone as the HDC i9300. This is the post I put up on fraudwatchers after I received it.
It cost $272 plus $40 which was charged me to wire it. I really should have known better.
The worst part about it is that they claim the following specs:
Processor: MTK MT6577 1.2GHz dual-core which is FALSE it has MTK6575 1GHz.
Screen Size: 4.8inch which is FALSE it has 4.5 inch
Display reulotion: 1280x720 which is FALSE it has 480x800
Camera Resulotion: 8MP back camera + 1.3MP front camera : FALSE it has 5MP+0.3MP
Memory: 1GB ROM / 1GB RAM which is FALSE it has 256MB ROM and 512MB RAM
Interface/Port: 3.5mm earphone jack / mini USB . Phone jack does not work well with other earphones but theirs (which is totally crap worst than $5 earphones). Only one side would work on during a call or even just listening to music. And I mean with any earphones.
For some reason it cannot even be connected to a computer as an external drive. The USB cord they said was a piece of crap.
You also cannot view the phone system information. They have greyed everything out. You can only obtain this information by using benchmarking software like antutu, quadrant and the likes of it.
Oh and they keyboard is in chinese. It does not have the standard Android Keyboard.
I even paid extra to have it sent by airmail which they said would take 2/3 days to arrive. Well I had to wait over 2 weeks to get it.
I recommend just buying the HDC i9300 which is cheaper and at least you know what you are getting. I am never buying anything form chinaecarts. I read a lot of bad reviews about them before I bought that phone and I guess you really just get blinded when you want something really bad. I had to get rid of it.
I am currently taking recommendations for the best mtk6577 phone out there if anyone has suggestions.
Hello Colonel.
ReplyDeleteI did exactly how you said ,but it downloads nothing. What should i do?Can you explain to me more detailed, like:when to start the phone and somethings like that.
I hope my english is corect and you understand me,i'm from Romania.
Thank you wery much.
Hello ColonelZap!
ReplyDeleteI have just got my N9770. Also following your tests and your reviews. And first many thanks for this work. However I cannot get this working. The connection with the phone goes off and on. can this be the missing driver? When try to follow your tutorial it does not work. I don´t know another way to install the driver. Is there any advise?
Regards
Uwe Niemann
Hi, do you speak German?
DeleteSounds like a driver problem, I bet you have Win7 running? Check this out, maybe it will help:

http://chinamobiles.org/showthread.php?31251-Star-Note-I9220-Treiberproblem/page2

DeleteHello Chief-Colonel,
ReplyDeleteDo you think that rooting will work von the "V1277":
http://www.cect-shop.com/de/v1277.html
Has another display then the n9770 + it does come with an HDMI-Port.
Thx in advance.
Hi Chris :-)
DeleteI wouldn't try it if I were you but check this out:
http://forum.china-iphone.ru/viewtopic.php?f=70&t=21563&start=40#p687512
Thx for your answer! Suppose, I have to learn russian before I can go for that;-) Maybe some other "SuperUserManiacs" talking english, german or french are going to look after that decent android smart phone called "V1277" with the best Dual-Core-CPU ever placed in a "no name China mobile phone" : MT6577. Wish you a nice week!
DeleteChris.
Hi.
ReplyDeleteI have rooted my phone and i have a problem:my camera is not working.
Please make a tutorial of how to flash the ORIGINAL bootimage back please!I am a newbie... Hope it repair the camera...
Thanks a lot.
Know if it works for U920?
ReplyDeleteHi - I tried with my U920 and ended up with a white screen. using the "original" image din't solve the problem.
DeleteMy Firmware is E1911_V77_ZGTX6_20120726
I need now a valid firmware file, luckily I orderd two Handsets so I will try to read out the Firmeware from the on untuched.
I got it Working !
DeleteFirst Step -
Backup you boot.img using "Read Back" of the Flash-Tool. (Help is here http://tinyurl.com/8p6os4q)
Start Address: 0x0000000000F88000
Length: 0x00600000
Second Step -
Follow the instructions from ColonelZap rooting the U920.
Third Step -
Go straight away and flash your original ROM.
@ColonelZap : vielleicht das Backup HowTo für das original BOOT.img mit in den Tutorial aufnehmen.
My BOOT.IMG for Firmware is E1911_V77_ZGTX6_20120726:
Deletehttp://ge.tt/1pL4EvM/v/0?c
Prima, 1000 Dank :-) Ich werde es mal copy & pasten :-)
DeleteClaus C. Lohmar, can you post original COMPLETE firmware (E1911_V77_ZGTX6_20120726)FOR U920+ ?
DeleteI was trying to flash my u920+ with n9770 firmware and the result was white screen!!
Now my u920+ is slepping!!!
Hi, I have not jet made a full copy of my firmware. It is unclear to if I can "Read Back" the whole firmware in one file. To do it in a bunch of image-files is quite a job. It will be easier to request the support of the supplier to provide this file.
DeleteIf your phone is rooted, google:
DeleteMTKdroidTools
With that tool a full readback is a piece of cake :-)
Thanks, will do it in the next month and post the image to the public. Next step is Customize the ROM and update to 4.1
DeleteColonel Zap
ReplyDeleteyou are the best... thanks for your work
I need an information... I'm going to buy a zp900 aka 9300+
is a clone of zopo zp900 with mtk6577 512Mb Ram and Android 4.1.1
do you think this procedure could be useful for me?
THe hardware parte are identical... or do you have any Idea how to root this phone.
If you need some file from my phone please let me know.
Thanks in advance
Hi :-)
DeleteI wouldn't try this on any other phone, this is NOT a universal solution, it will only work for this particular phone.
do you have any tips how to root manually?
Deletecan I do a readback of boot.img and work on it?
I do have a rooting script for a DIFFERENT MT6577 phone that MIGHT work on other phones as well, as long as ICS is running on the phone. Problem is, I don't have a MT6577 phone with ICS right now, so I never tested it.
DeleteAs soon as I get an MT6577 / ICS phone I will test it.
well considering that mine is 6577 with JB so i think it's more complicated... thank you... i will continue to read your blog wating for good news
DeleteThanks :-) Just in case you are interested, this is what I was talking about:
Deletehttp://chinamobiles.org/showthread.php?31570-Star-V12-mit-MTK6577&p=332604&viewfull=1#post332604
I don't know if that rooting script will work.
Hi ColonelZap master!
ReplyDeleteI was poking around with adb to double check the scatter info in MT6577_Android_scatter_emmc.txt. There are differences, I think.
Do I miss something?
I am working on an update.zip that could be used from stock recovery to root the phone.
Cheers,
madnorb.

ReplyDeleteIf you have doubts about the correct addresses, you can create your own scatter file like this:
http://bm-smartphone-reviews.blogspot.it/2012/04/creating-rom-dump-of-your-mt65x3-device.html
In case of n9770, the /proc/mtd is empty.
ReplyDeleteHi ColonelZap, i received my n9770 and i'm having a big problem...
ReplyDeleteIt starts whith a white screen and still the same... Nothing happens.
I did not do anything, just turned it on. I mean I did not flash or root it. I want to know if this happened to you or some or the lectors of your blog? And what can I do to get it to work?
I'm still waiting a reply from the seller... Thanks in advance!

DeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteI've 2 Tinji i9300 s2 6577 mobiles.. they look ok but do not connect to the network. They detect the sim Vodafone (India) but I cannot make any phone calls.. it says no network even when the sim is recognised. Could you plz guide me on what the problem is as I cannot make any calls or receive calls or sms. Thank you.
Hi :-)
DeleteCheck your IMEI (dial *#06#) to see if they are there. Also, maybe this is the problem?
http://tinyurl.com/9dvge8u
I'm from Argentina and I have the same problem. Tinji phone doesn't connect to mobile network. I rooted it, checked and rewrite the IMEI numbers, they are ok. Tested it with 2 different SIMs from different companies, none of them work. Any hints?
DeleteThanks,
Best regards
Please, my STAR U920 needs original complete firmware (E1911_V77_ZGTX6_20120726)!
ReplyDeleteI was trying to flash my u920+ with n9770 firmware.
The result was white screen. Only white screen!! :-(((
Please, please,please!!!
I'm sorry I don't have a firmware for rhe U920 :-(
DeleteIf I find one, I'll post it on this blog.
Ok, thank you. Please, you remember me (and my u920+)!!
DeleteHi Anonymous - I'm short of time, ColonelZap provided me with a tool to read out my firmware. As soon as possible I will try to get a file for you.
DeleteHI i have a problem when i root the phone N9770 pad, The screen is not bright. The display flashes.
ReplyDeleteyou can help me.

gustavocanarias@gmail.com
i think my device are e1809c_v77_gq1008_5647
ReplyDeleteand the root is e1809c_v77_gq1008_9p017
How made?
Hi All!
ReplyDeleteFYI: I've created a safe root method for the star n9770 phone, that could be used from stock recovery, no special firmware flashing, no cwm recovery or other voodoo is needed. Just boot into stock recovery and apply the update zip and you are rooted, that's all.
Take a look at this thread for more details:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=31126124&postcount=107
It works for me, but no guarantees.
Cheers,
madnorb.
WOW!!! Thank you so much for that, great job!
DeleteHI colonel i have a gt-i9300 1 ghz single sim (cloned of course) but i cant root it i´ve tried this tutorial but idont know what iam doing bad, i´ve heard there is a method to root it by recovery is it true? how can i do it?
ReplyDeleteHi, I dont' have any of those other accounts so I had to post as anonymous. Anyway, I just rooted my Note N9770 using this method. Everything went smoothly, but now that it is rooted, the screen brightness fluctuates steadily, kinda like a strobe light I guess you can say, and the color is a little off. Any suggestions?
ReplyDeleteHi :-) Have you tried to flash back the original bootimage from my post above? Root should still be there after flashing it.
DeleteThanks for the reply. That was the plan because the camera also stopped working as well as the play store. I'm pretty new to this rooting stuff so I don't know how to flash the original boot image. I downloaded it but don't know how to do it :-( do you have a tutorial somewhere?
DeleteOh yeah and I used the win7 steps.
DeleteHi :-) Flashing the original bootimage is the exact same procedure like flashing the rooted bootimage, as described above.
DeleteI tried that but couldn't figure out how to load the image into the flash tool the way I loaded the scatter txt file. But thanks I'll try again :-)
DeleteJust load the scatter file and then click (or double click?) on the bootimage entry to select the file the flash tool should use.
DeleteGood luck :-)
Loaded the original boot img. No luck. Thanks for the help. Is there a way to unroot it?
ReplyDeleteMaybe by flashing an entire new firmware on it?
Deletelol sorry to keep bugging you. Do you know where I could find a new firmware. I've google searched like crazy with no luck.
DeleteI found some roms. I downloaded CWM recovery. Everytime I try to go into recovery mode I get an image of a a robot with an exclamation point in a red triangle. I give up. Thanks for the help.
DeleteI had just about given up and then found this forum:
Deletehttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1825332&page=4
Thanks for the guidance and the help once again. I was able to use the info in this forum in conjuction with what you taught me here to bring my phone back to normal. no longer rooted. but at least back to normal. :-)

ReplyDeleteColonel,
ReplyDeleteI have a Tinji i9300. I have rooted it, but I do not have service. Any suggestions on how to fix this?
**Other forums suggest changing IMEI of my phone, if this is a possible solution, what do I change the IMEI numbers to? thank a lot!
check if your IMEIs are there by dialing *#06#
DeleteIf they are gone, google:
mtkdroid tools
You'll find it on a Russian forum.
Yes that are there, when I check the IMEI validity, they are valid numbers. Do you think changing them will fix my service problem? If so, any thoughts on what I change the IMEI numbers to? Thanks again.
DeleteMaybe the IMEIs on your phone are blocked in your country? Do you have an old, working phone with a valid IMEI?
DeleteYes, I have a working phone with a valid IMEI. Are you saying to change the IMEI on the Tinji to the IMEI on my current working phone?
DeleteYou can try, just write down the original IMEI, just in case :-)
DeleteDid not work.. :( Well thank you again! I don't know what the issues is. It could be an issue with the IMEI or an unlock issue. That's what I get for buying a chinese phone and using it on US network. Anything comes to mind, let me know! Great blog and you do an amazing job replying!

photon_Ed@yahoo.com
Hi :-) I'm sorry, I don't have this phone anymore, so I can't check :-( Maybe with launcher that allows you to set the number of columns? At least on the desktop the Launcher Pro should be able to do that.
DeleteHi ColonelZap!
ReplyDeleteCan you help me please? I must to send the phone to China because the usb port don't work properly, can you explain me how I can return the X710D to the original state? I changed the rom, the recovery and rooted.
Thanks you very much!!!
Hi :-) I guess you would have to flash the original firmware, but I wouldn't really worry about that, just make sure your personal data is deleted (do a factory reset), nobody cares in China if you have flashed your phone or not (from MY experience) ;-)
DeleteHi!
ReplyDeleteI have a STAR B92M (MTK6577, Android 4.1.1) and I wish to save the MTD partition table for generate the corresponding scatter file but I have a problem. The /proc/mtd file is empty.
Is there other way to generate this partition table file for use it to generate the scatter file? Thanks a lot!
Hi :-) Google for
Deletemtk droid root & tools
If you conntect your phone as an ADB-device, you can easily create a scatter file with that tool. Good luck :-)
Thanks for your prompt answer!
DeleteI must mention that some of the MTK options are not available (like backup). That's because my phone is not rooted yet?
With adb, I saw that the content of /etc/emmc is similar but smaller than the "old" /etc/mtd. Even so, when I use the MTK Rom Studio to load the output of the "cat /etc/emmc" it give me an error. I presume that the output file is not compatible with the content of the /etc/mtd...
All that I need is to root the phone not to change the ROM.
For a system backup is enough to run "adb backup -system -noshared -all"? That's in case that something wrong with the rooting or flashing the phone..
Hi :-) You may want to check this out:
Deletehttp://chinamobiles.org/showthread.php?32195-Universal-ROOT-für-MTK6577-Platformen
Maybe google translate can help you.
With this methode you can root your firmware using the droid tool and once it is rooted, you can also make a complete backup with the Droid Tool.
Thanks a lot! That was HELP! God bless you!

Hi friend
ReplyDeleteI ended up bricking my haipai i9220, because I had done numerous tricks with the system files, making it change SD cards around giving myself plenty of memory, and changing the boot up logo to the Samsung galaxy note one, but I got to big for my boots and because the boot-off logo was not showing decided to change a few more files, and BANG
I payed the price, I know which file I switched, but cannot get into system to change back, is there any way to get into sytem files of a bricked haipai.
Hi, sorry to hear that :-(

Hi Sir! I have a Star N9330 Note2 MTK 6577 chinese phone with these characteristics.
ReplyDelete1. model number: e1901_v77_gq2002_9p017_fg
2. Android version: 4.1.1
3.Baseband version: MAUI.11AMD.W12.22.SP.V15.2012/10/08

5. Build number: e1901_v77_gq2002_9p017_fg_20121126
I tried to root it using your guide but unsucsesfully. When I start SP flash tool it goes up to the red line and I get this message:
BROM ERROR: S_FT_NEED_DOWNLOAD_ALL_FAIL (4050)
Need download all images!
[HINT]:
DA paritial images download is ONLY allowed under following prerequisite: 1. All images have been downloaded to target before, and target could boot up; 2. The images layout map on the target is same as the load that is to be downloaded.
What can I do? How can I get all images? Is this a ROM? Where can I get it? I have tried 4-5 other methods to root it but unsuccessfully. They do not work with this phone. If you could help me I would appreciate.
Thank You!
did u solved the issue i am also getting same issue .
Deletei have another device which is same to the one which i am trying to restore .. both show same info under version menu in factory mode .. i created the image using mtkdroid and then created the scatter using the firmware.info then i converted it to blocks for flash with sp flash tool option in mtk droid .. now same issue as urs..

Hi :-)
ReplyDeleteThe only thing I can think of that might work is this method:
http://colonelzap.blogspot.de/2012/10/universal-mt6577-rooting-method.html
Thank you for the response, Sir. I already have used Root with Restore versions 2, 15, 17 and the last 18 but unsuccessfully. I also used SuperOneClick, SP_Flash_Tool_v3.1224.01, MTKdroidTools_v2.3.0 and Unlock Root but without result. Hopefully will find something to root it. Thank You!
ReplyDeleteHi again! I am thinking to use Universal ROOT platforms for MTK6577 at Chinamobile.org that you administer. Do you think that it might work? In case yes, how can I calculate both of the entries the length (boot image and recovery) and Flash with Hexadecimal calculator? I am not familiar with calculating such values and have not used any time this calculator. Could you please instruct me. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteHi :-) Maybe this will help you?

Hi first happy new year to everyone, does anyone know whee you can get the firmware for build munber e1901_v77_mt9p017_notv_20121121, having tried every tutorial possible on how to fix INVALID IMEI i think a full firmware flash is the only solution left, unless anyone knows different. The nearest i have got to get it working is, the network is picked up, in my case t-mobile uk but still says INVALID IMEI.
ReplyDeletei have a galaxy s3 gt 91300 but i think its china copy because i bought it in china at a cheap price and it runs android 4.1.9 can i flash using this method ?plz help
ReplyDeleteYes, its an copy. Where have you bought it?
DeleteAfter doing this my whole phone is dead, won't even start or respond to the flashing program. I have Star N9770.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear that :-( Did you do the method from the xda-developers forum like I suggested at the very top (...Before you try this, please try this instead:...)?
DeleteI have tried every tutorial i can find but have had no success at all, really desperate now!
ReplyDeletehello. good and clear post. but I have not worked. to put the new boot.img appeared the initial screen and then restarts. by misfortune then press the format button and now the phone will not turn on .. is there any way to restore cellular manufacturing. using the flash tools sp. Thanks and eager response.
ReplyDeleteregards
I think if you formated the phone, the only thing that might bring it back to life is to flash an ENTIRE new firmware on it.
Deletehow???
DeleteFirst of all you need an entire firmware, maybe whoever sold you the phone can get you one? Then you flash ALL the parts, not just the bootimage like you did before.
Deletereally need instruction for this..step by step as I'm now very nervous to do anything with the phone....my phone suplier wont give me the original firmware so where can i get it from.??
ReplyDeleteI really don't know :-( Maybe you can find something there?

Hallo ColonelZap,
Schau mal dort:
