HDC Galaxy S3 i9300 Rooting and Play Store Fix How to Tutorial

Edit: Before you try this, please try this instead: CLICK



Just to make sure, this is for this phone: CLICK

All you need is this: CLICK





If you are using the flash tool the first time, a driver will be missing. PLEASE don't ask me how to install this driver, it's different on every Windows version :-( I already had the driver on my PC, so I can't demonstrate how it's installed, that is something you need to figure out by yourself.

and copy these apps into the system/app folder as well. Also change the permissions, this should fix the contacts / calander sync :-)

UPDATE: If you are having problems with your g-sensor after rooting, see what flavio molt wrote below:

1.just download this file.

s3-firmware.zip from colonel blog site ;)

2.then open it with winrar and extract only the boot.img
3.take the boot.img and replace it with the one in the flash tool directory
4.then flash it using flash tool( just like you did with colonel zap instructions)
5.Switch on and off your auto rotation on display settings.( sometimes needed)
6.Cheers...



Here's the trick to get rooted and solved the problem with g-sensor
1. Root your phone using colonel zap instruction using downloaded files from his site

2.Follow the instruction above to solve g-sensor problem.

    7. si estan dañados algunos pero cuando los descomprimes funciona el archivo boot, que es el que se necesita.
      yo también note que algunos datos no son legibles para descomprimirlos con winrar pero el que me interesaba osea el boot, ese si se logro descomprimir.

      copy the *.zip on your sd-card, boot the phone into the recovery mode (I think vol up + power), "apply update from sd card".

    9. I have the feeling you have a completely different phone, that would explain the "signature failure", every manufacturer uses their own signature to ensure only firmwares that are especially designed for their hardware will be able to be flashed on their phones.

    11. I don't think there is anything you can do? Either the g-sensor is working or it's not. Your phone is still rooted, right? You should have a Zopomobile Tool app on it. start it, click on engineer mode, select engineer mode (MTK), there you can test the g-sensor as well.

      just follow it step by step pause video if you get confused
      it works on mtk6577,mtk6575,mtk6573. i have tried on all.
      although i am having trouble with Google play fix i followed it exactly as shown im sure of it.

    3. Good luck, as far as I know that's the only way. You probably only need a readback of the bootimage because that's the one you replaced on your phone with the non-working g-sensor.

    1. Hi :-)

      Not really :-( You can istall an app called "more locale 2" that can add some system messages in all sorts of languages but the menus will still be in the system languages that are part of the firmware. Of course you can also install an alternative keyboard that supports Greek but that's pretty much all you can do.

  10. I got a HDC g23i One X s720e, but this does not detect accepts the SIM card wireless signals and shows "No Service". The same sim card is working on other phones.

    I tried to upgrade the rom to check if this is a software glitch and now the phone is not even booting. Please help.

      This only works with the phone I have linked above, if you have a different model, I wouldn't recommend trying it, it might brick you phone!

  20. Hello Colonel and thank you. Your root really worked on my HDC Galaxy S3 i9300 :)
    The only problem I have after the root that G-sensor stopped working, I will try to apply original boot.img to try to fix it.

    Also I would like to ask: is you phone also low on memory? - I mean internal memory for apps installation. Titanium says it has only 133 MB available which seems quite low. Of course I installed most apps to sd card, but sometimes it is not possible. Compared to other MTK6575 phones it doesn't seem right. Also other MTK6575 phones I tested usually have around 2,5 GB internal memory available visible as sd card even there is not sd card inserted but this phone has nothing ..

    After verification and test driven compléte it turns out they are completely identical!
    and CPU Benchmark test is the same but also gives 1 Ghz!
    Why does it say for your 2 Ghz?
    I tested the root on the first with "your solution" and that's OK!

  24. Help with swap partition on my HTC i9300 S to increase Ram Memory
    I partitioned my 16GB SD in 3 partitions as follows: 14 GB primary partition to Fat 32, Fat 1GB primary partition 32 and 256 MB primary SWAP, and using the app Link2SD program me correctly detected the second calving. but I can not get it to recognize the swap partition could help to achieve this.       I can't imagine that there is a JB Rom available for your phone and THIS rooting method will definitely NOT work on your phone, don't try it!

    3. I've never done any business with that shop, so I don't know. The phone is probably a very nice one, I might be getting that as well :-) Firmware support and stuff like that you can PROBABLY forget about, at least not "official" support, if a phone is popular enough maybe some smart users will come up with things :-)

      Please check out my first post, I have two firmwares to download there. If I were you, I'd try to flash the original bootimage ONLY, with a little luck everything will be working again and root might still be there. Good luck :-)

    1. Hi, I don't know what the problem is, it's working for me. Are you using and help tools from the market like faster fix? Also, do you use A-GPS? A FIRST satellites fix can easily take up to 1,5 hours.

    Here's the problem: If I dump the recovery.img from my phone NOW, it is already the rooted one, not the original. I didn't dump the recovery.img before I rooted it, so I can't give you the original recovery.

    What if you flash one of the two original firmwares from above?

    install it according to the tutorial mentioned and you will see that the phone is updated to version 4.0.4 with a samsung boot animation .... I did this on 18/08/2012 and cel works 100% ..... for rooting the phone with this rom, also works the method of this website to work ..... hope you luck .......

    pd .... although occasionally I can connect to gps ... I would like to find a solution to improve satellite reception as this phone does not have the file gps.config explained in countless forums to detect satellites in seconds ....

    another pd ... I also works with the rom 3g or original or new version of this rom .. any suggestions? ......

    2. Hello my Colonel. The situation is this: I had installed the root and play store .. everything was wonderful. Then I deleted the file of the keyboard Chinese and from that moment came the problems. Currently I have the phone in brick, screen off, do not even go into recovery mode. I tried to do a debrick with a usb jig but it did not work (I work only mobile salsung) If I try to connect with sp flash tool responds to programming but at the end of error messages such as: the load and target are inconsistent. . or bm error: s_not_enough_storage_space (1011).   64. Hi, i found a way to root the HDC I9300 (this phone)
    When i orded it it was android 4.0.4 preinstalled. So i took some background research and ended up using this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1165973&d=1341025484

    Now. How do i use this tool?
    1. Install android SDK
    2. Copy everything that is inside into: android-sdk/platform-tools
    3. Dont replace adb etc
    4. Enable Debugging mode
    5. Run the ".bat" file
    6. Follow the instruction given!
    7. Done, reboot one last time and you are rooted!

    Hope this helps!
    NB! I tested this tool on my Windows 7 computer, think it will work with XP and Vista aswell.

This is the last firmware that the supplier send me, is very cool, was removed several useless apps on Chinese language, the android market is update and fixed, the dial-pad looks nice, the only issue is the magnetic sensor, the supplier test and say works with the others phones, but may be is because I rooted mine, I don't really know.

    1. Exact same problem any thoughts? BTW mine is single sim version with Clockwork recovery touch. I also have the GT i9100-01 Sii clone single sim this also has location problem but I cannot root this phone yet hoping the Colonel can help with this too.
